Marketing - All the business activities designed to attract customers who will buy products and services. Marketing includes promotions such as advertising, publicity, and sales parties, pricing, branding, packaging and any other activities designed to interest customers in a product or service.

MLM - The acronym for MultiLevel Marketing. It's a method of selling products or through a network of independent salespeople who are compensated not only for their own product sales, but also for the sales of others they recruit into the company as their downline or team. MLM is also known as Network Marketing and its independent salespeople may be called distributors, representatives, consultants, agents, associates, dealers, independent business owners, or dealers.
MLM has suffered a poor reputations based in part on illegal Pyramid Schemes that have used the MLM model. Though not without its critics, MLM is a legitimate business model and has the potential to produce a decent income if pursued properly for some time. One way to distinguish MLM from an illegal pyramid is to determine whether it is possible to earn money from selling a legitimate product or service without ever recruiting other representatives. Income from an illegal Pyramid relies on recruitment.
